Il y avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 eu la kh\u00e2gne, un master en philosophie \u00e0 la Sorbonne, un passage \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 Aalto \u00e0 Helsinki\u00a0; et il y aurait le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains, s\u2019achevant par une th\u00e8se de doctorat \u00e0 l\u2019UQAM \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al les ann\u00e9es suivantes. C\u2019est au cours de ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es que SMITH fit son entr\u00e9e \u00e0 la galerie les Filles du Calvaire, dont j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 la directrice artistique pendant plus de vingt ans.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.andrefrereditions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/smith-christine-ollier-andre-frere-editions-4.jpg\" alt=\"smith-christine-ollier-andre-frere-editions-4\" width=\"430\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.andrefrereditions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/smith-christine-ollier-andre-frere-editions-4.jpg 430w, https:\/\/www.andrefrereditions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/smith-christine-ollier-andre-frere-editions-4-420x367.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.andrefrereditions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/smith-christine-ollier-andre-frere-editions-4-300x262.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ses portraits, r\u00e9alis\u00e9s \u00e0 vingt ans \u00e0 peine, \u00e9taient sensibles et diff\u00e9rents de la monotonie courante. Mais ce fut l\u2019installation vid\u00e9o <em>C19H28O2 (Agn\u00e8s)<\/em> que SMITH pr\u00e9senta en premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e du Fresnoy, qui me sid\u00e9ra et me questionna suffisamment pour vouloir lui organiser au plus vite une premi\u00e8re exposition \u00e0 la galerie les Filles du Calvaire. Je fus en cela fort bien suivie par mon bras droit, Marie Magnier, aussi enthousiaste que moi-m\u00eame. Par sa culture plus jeune et sa complicit\u00e9 avec mon propre regard, cette derni\u00e8re fut, en quelque sorte, garante du bien-fond\u00e9 de ma pr\u00e9monition sur ce travail \u2013\u00a0bien qu\u2019il soit \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9vidence trop t\u00f4t pour le confirmer. D\u2019un colloque sur l\u2019importance de ces politiques p\u00e9dagogiques ouvertes, j\u2019ai retenu une phrase de Bruno Serralongue\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Les \u00e9coles sont l\u00e0 pour former des citoyens.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>J\u2019ajouterais\u00a0: des citoyens hors normes dont la port\u00e9e cr\u00e9ative peut d\u2019aventure \u00eatre exceptionnelle.
